Application Steps to Obtain a Thailand eVisa as an Indian National

As an Indian citizen, you must complete the application form for a Thailand eVisa and submit it for approval prior to traveling to Thailand.

The application process for a Thailand eVisa is straightforward. The application form is entirely online, meaning you can fill in your information in a few minutes and submit it for approval without having to contact an embassy or consulate.

Most of the fields that Indians must complete are related to basic personal information and travel data such as the following:

  • Full name
  • Home address
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Nationality
  • Passport number, expiration date, and issuance date
  • Travel purposes
  • Expected date of entry and exit

Additionally, you will be required to provide information about your trip to Thailand, including evidence of your accommodation.

Requirements for a Thailand eVisa for Indian Citizens

If you are an Indian national traveling to Thailand for longer than 15 days, you must contact a Thai consulate in Chennai, Kolkata, or Mumbai, or the embassy in New Delhi.

How Long Will it Take to Receive my Thailand eVisa as an Indian Citizen?

Your application form for your Thailand eVisa is usually processed within 3 business days, although most petitions are ready in 24 hours.

It can take longer during busy travel periods, so it is recommended you allow at least 5 business days for processing.

Once approved, the Thailand eVisa will be emailed to the address that Indian applicants registered on their application as an attachment.

Travelers from India are required to print out a copy of their Thailand eVisa to carry with them to present to border officials on arrival in Thailand.

How Does the Thailand eVisa for Indian Nationals Work?

Currently, nationals from around 20 countries, including India, can apply for a Thailand eVisa before traveling to Thailand.

The single-entry Thailand eVisa grants the holder authorization to enter Thailand for a maximum of 15 consecutive days. Once the eVisa is approved, Indians have a month (30 days) to enter Thailand before the eVisa expires.

The Thailand eVisa permits entry to Thailand via air only (sea or land entries with the online visa are not allowed).

The eVisa to Thailand can be used by Indian citizens at the following international airports only: Bangkok Don Mueang (DMK), Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK), Phuket International (HKT), Chiang Mai International (CNX).

Travelers cannot enter if they have been in one of the following countries n the last 14 days: Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. The following exceptions may enter Thailand: Thai nationals and their immediate families; residents of Thailand; students; visa-exempt passengers; holders of a visa issued by Thailand, APEC Business Travel Card holders arriving from the country or region that issued said card (they must be nationals of the following countries: Australia, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Vietnam); passengers transiting through Bangkok (BKK), passengers traveling to Phuket. All passengers entering or transiting through Thailand must prove they are free of coronavirus by presenting a negative PCR test result in English from at most 72 hours before departure (those in transit can alternatively present a vaccination certificate), as well as insurance with a minimum coverage of USD 50,000. Transit passengers who will not disembark the aircraft are exempt. Arrivals from some countries also need to show a vaccine certificate. All passengers must have a Thailand Pass QR code obtained online. Arrivals from most countries must quarantine for 10 days (7 for fully vaccinated travelers).
