You may also wish to apply for a visa through a local contact in Singapore who is a Singapore citizen or a Permanent Resident in possession of a “SingPass” account. The visa application can be submitted online through your local contact in Singapore via the SAVE system at Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)’s website. If your application is approved, your local contact in Singapore can use the SAVE system to print a copy of your e-Visa for you.

Visa and Entry Requirements for Foreigners

Singapore Visa: Available Options

Every year, around 18 million visitors reach Singapore. That is more than 3 times the local population. To accommodate the needs of international travellers, Singapore has several visa options available.

Individuals wishing to enter Singapore should assess their own visa circumstances taking into account several factors, including:

Their nationality
The length of time they wish to spend in Singapore
The reason(s) for their visit

Short-term trips can be made using a tourist visa, which can be obtained online or through a Singaporean diplomatic mission abroad. Tourist visas are usually issued within 3 business days from the application date.

Who Needs a Visa for Singapore?

A number of nationalities can enter Singapore without having to apply for a visa. However, both visa-free travellers and those who require to obtain permission prior to departure must apply for a valid SG Arrival Card before starting their trip, this authorization includes the health declaration.

Travellers who fall into the below groups can and should request an SG Arrival Card:

Singapore groups the countries whose citizens require a visa to enter Singapore into two groups: assessment level I countries and assessment level II countries.

The Singapore tourist visa for Assessment Level I countries

Those holding a passport issued by an Assessment Level I country can apply for a Singaporean tourist visa online also called eVisa.

Online applications are usually processed within 1 business day. The eVisa must be printed out and presented upon arrival, together with a passport linked to a valid SG Arrival Card.

Travel to Singapore without a visa for 90 days

The amount of time that eligible foreigners can spend in Singapore without a visa depends on the country that issued their passport.

Holders of passports issued by one of the below countries can stay in Singapore for up to 90 days without a visa. All these nationalities travelling to Singapore for a period of less than 90 days needs to process the SG Arrival Card:

Those who are not included in the following groups can enter Singapore visa-free and stay within its territory for up to 30 days:

Citizens of Assessment Level II countries
Holders of the passports highlighted above (as they can stay for up to 90 days)

Long-term visas for Singapore

A great number of foreign nationals each year decide to move to Singapore or stay in the country for extended periods of time. That is the case, for example, for individuals who choose Singapore to work or study.

Please note that long-term visas require lengthier processing times and more extensive supporting documentation than a Singapore tourist visa. All applicants must fill out a separate request for an SG Arrival Card before they travel, regardless of their visa eligibility status.

Foreign citizens wishing to relocate to Singapore should contact their nearest Singaporean embassy or consulate to collect more information and start their application well in advance.

Visiting Singapore with an SG Arrival Card

All foreign visitors must hold a valid SG Arrival Card in order to be granted permission to enter Singapore. This is the list of countries eligible for the Singapore Arrival Card:

The SGAC is an electronic document that can be applied for completely online. The Card replaces what was known as the paper-based Disembarkation Card for Singapore, which has now been discontinued.

The electronic SG Arrival Card requirements are minimal. Being an e-Service, the SG Arrival Card application can be finalised and submitted in a matter of minutes from any device that can connect to the internet.

To successfully complete the SG Arrival Card application for Singapore, travellers must fill out an online form. They will be asked to provide information such as:

Passport data
Contact details
Personal information such as full name and date of birth
Travel plans

Travellers are advised to complete their SGAC request at least 5 days prior to departure to allow enough time for the Singaporean authorities to process their application.

Please bear in mind that the Singapore Arrival Card is not a visa. It is a mandatory entry requirement for all foreign visitors. Those who need a visa must file a separate application for a Singaporean visa that suits their travel needs and requirements.
