General Information
The U.S. Consulate General Karachi accepts applications for nonimmigrant visas to the United States. Nonimmigrant visas are for people who are visiting the U.S. temporarily for tourism, business, education, medical treatment, or petition-based employment. The type of visa required depends on your purpose of travel. Please visit the State Department’s website, , for information on the types of visas available for temporary visitors.
To apply for a visa, please visit http://www.ustraveldocs.com/pk/index.html to 1) fill out the nonimmigrant visa electronic application (DS-160) form, 2) pay the application fee, and 3) schedule an appointment for a nonimmigrant visa interview.
With certain exceptions (e.g., Form I-20 for those applying for a student visa, Form DS-2019 for those applying for an exchange visitor visa, etc.), the U.S. Consulate has no specific list of supporting documentation that must be provided by visa applicants. Rather, visa applicants should bring whatever documentation they believe would substantiate their position in Pakistan and their purpose of travel to the United States. The consular officer may or may not review this documentation at the time of the interview.
In general, visa applicants, including those 14 and under, must appear in person at the Consulate for an interview. As of June 1, 2017, applicants 80 years of age and older , and who were not previously refused a visa, are exempt from this requirement. We encourage all applicants to apply at least three months before their intended date of travel. We also recommend that travelers not purchase nonrefundable or non-changeable airline tickets before being issued a U.S. visa..
Please note that some visa applications will require additional administrative processing. Applicants are informed at the time of the interview if such administrative process is needed. While most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of the interview, the exact timing varies from case to case. Before inquiring about the status of their case, applicants should wait at least 90 days from the date of the interview or submission of supplemental documents.

After you have decided what type of visa for USA you need and you have collected the required documents, it’s time to apply.
To apply for US Visa in UK you will go through these simple steps:

American Visa Application Requirements
After you have selected the visa type you need to apply for, you should start gathering the documents that are required for that US visa. The commonly required documents to apply for a visa for USA in the UK are as follows:

- Letter from a physician, if you have a medical condition that could have a bearing on your eligibility for a visa.
- Invitation letter, if applying for a B-2 visa.
- If you have ever been rejected for entry or deported from the US, you must also submit documents in this regard.

Attend the US Visa Interview in the UK
All applicants from the age of 14 to the age of 79 that apply for a USA visa from the UK, have to appear in person at the US consulate or embassy for the interview. Applicants under 14 and over 80 are eligible to apply by a courier.
Show up on time, since arriving too late may result with the cancellation of your appointment. Get yourself ready to be at the embassy or consulate where you apply for around two to three hours, because of the processes. Have all your documents with you, and nicely organized.
