Uae Visa Designations

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has a number of visa designations, each one with its own requirements and application process. In general, the UAE is a great destination for tourists and business travelers alike. The country is known for being friendly and welcoming to foreigners, which makes it an ideal place to get your feet wet in international travel.

We’ve broken down the various visa designations below:

Visitor visa – If you’re planning on staying in the UAE for less than 90 days and will not be working there during that time period, this is likely what you’ll need. This visa designation allows you to enter into the country without having to apply for any other type of permit or license beforehand.

Student visa – If you plan on attending school in Dubai or Abu Dhabi at an accredited institution of higher learning, then this is probably what you’ll need as well. There are restrictions around how long you can stay in the UAE while having this designation on your passport—so make sure you check out those requirements before applying!

  1. Student (X1): A student visa is a type of visa that allows you to come to the UAE for study purposes. You can apply for this visa at the same time you are applying for entry clearance to enter the country. The student visa will allow you to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days, but it is valid only for a single entry into the country. If you want to stay longer than 90 days, or if your plans include multiple trips, then you should apply for a residence visa instead.
  2. Employment (X2): An employment visa is a type of visa that allows foreigners to work in the UAE. Foreigners with an employer sponsorship who want to live and work in Dubai must apply for this type of visa before entering the country. You will need this type of visa if your employer has hired you on behalf of their company as an employee or if they have hired you as a consultant through one of our recruitment agencies in Dubai.
  3. Residence (X3): A residence visa is a type of visa that allows foreigners living in Dubai who do not have any ties or connections with another country other than the United Arab Emirates to live permanently in Dubai without having to leave again until their residency expires.
