Polish citizens are one of the largest groups of passengers traveling to Russia. The most popular route is already over 20 flights per week. In 2017, Airline LOT Polish Airlines will begin service 13 flights per week, with an additional three on weekends.
The Russian Federation has now implemented an online E-visa option for citizens of 55 countries worldwide, including Poland, who wish to travel to different regions within Russia for the purposes of tourism, business or humanitarian ventures.
The Russian E-visa is a convenient way for citizens of Poland to obtain the necessary travel authorization for Russia without having to visit their nearest Russian diplomatic mission in person to submit an application.
Travelers who apply for a Russian E-visa for Polish nationals are able to visit certain designated regions within the Federation for short-term stays. The process can be completed exclusively online, to receive an approved electronic travel document sent by email.
Types of Russia E-visas for Polish Citizens
Russian visa laws require all foreign nationals except those from visa-exempt nations to obtain an approved visa for Russia prior to visiting the country. Depending on the specific region Polish travelers are interested in visiting within Russia, they may be able to apply for a visa through the newly implemented eVisa system.
There are 3 types of Russian E-visas currently available to Polish citizens:

It should be noted that an approved Russian E-visa for Polish passport holders can only be used for entry into the designated district that the applicant selects when completing the application. If the travelers wish to enter more than one E-visa-eligible region, they will require multiple online visas.
Although a Russia-wide E-visa is expected to be implemented in 2021, it is currently necessary for Polish citizens to apply for a Russian embassy visa if they wish to visit any region of the Federation not listed above.
Russian E-visa Requirements for Polish Citizens
The Russian visa laws have set some basic requirements for all travelers regardless of the type of Russian E-visa they may be applying for. Travelers from Poland will need to ensure they have
- A valid Polish passport with a minimum 6-month validity from intended arrival date in Russia, containing space for entry/exit stamps to be placed.
- A current email address to receive updates and notifications regarding their application, as well as the approved E-visa document once approved
- A recent passport-sized photograph of the traveler, taken against a white background
Currently, the Russian visa policy does not require any additional supporting documentation to be submitted along with the E-visa. Once the Russian E-visa is approved for the traveler, it is valid for 30 days to enter the Russian Federation.
How to Apply for a Russian E-visa from Poland
The Russian E-visa application can be filled out online. Polish citizens are required to provide personal, passport and travel details while filling out the application.
It is important for travelers from Poland to ensure the accuracy of the information they enter on the Russian E-visa application form as small mistakes and errors can lead to complications in obtaining the E-visa.
Citizens of Poland are recommended to begin applying for the Russian E-visa at least 7 days ahead of the intended arrival in Russia in order to añllow for sufficient processing time.
After submitting the completed application, travelers usually receive an update regarding the status of their application within 2-4 business days.
Once approved, travelers will need to take a printed copy of the Russian E-visa with them when they travel as it will be required for entry into the specific region within Russian they are traveling to.
Traveling to Russia with an E-Visa from Poland
All holders of one of the Russian E-visa types are allowed to stay in the designated territory off Russia for 8 days beginning on the day they arrived and ending at 11:59pm on the day their E-visa expires. The Russian E-visa is issued as a single-entry visa only.
An approved E-visa allows entry into the designated Russian territory through select land, air and seaports. Therefore, travelers should check to see which ports of entry are valid for entry with the Russian E-visa prior to making their travel arrangements.

Nationals and residents of many countries may now travel to Russia, provided they arrive from certain countries. Nationals and residents of Botswana, Eswatini, Hong Kong, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe are not allowed to enter. This includes passengers who have been in one of these countries in the last 10 days. The issuance of Russian eVisas has been suspended until further notice. All arriving passengers (with the exception of Russian nationals), including those transiting through Russia, are required to have a negative coronavirus PCR test result issued a maximum of 2 days before arrival. Passengers arriving from certain countries are subject to a COVID-19 antigen test on arrival. Flights from Morocco and Tanzania to Russia are suspended. All travelers must fill in an “Application Form” online before traveling to Russia and present a printed copy on arrival.
