Introduction

The United Arab Emirates is offering to extend its residence visa for expatriates to 10 years. The move is aimed at attracting foreign investment and expertise into the oil-rich Gulf economy and ease bureaucracy in the second-largest Arab economy after Saudi Arabia. A UAE cabinet decision issued on May 30, 2019 said it would issue a long-term residency visa to investors, specialists in medical, scientific, research and technical fields, as well those who own property worth more than $1.3 million or have savings of over $2.2 million. Those with clean criminal records and who were financially self-sufficient would also be eligible for the new visa regime under which their families could also be eligible for visas lasting up to five years, although children born in the UAE would have to have special permission from authorities if they wanted to stay longer than that period.

Work in our country

You can work in our country without the need for a visa, provided that:

You have lived in our country for at least two years before applying for a residence visa.
You study English language or carry out job or any other activities which are considered beneficial to the community, such as teaching and training related to your job skills and qualifications, etc.

If you are from a country that does not require a visa to visit the UAE, then you may stay for up to 90 days in the country without a visa. For example, citizens of Canada, USA and Australia can stay for up to 90 days without a visa.

You must study English at least 20 hours per week.

You must have a valid job contract in your name that states you are an employee of the company. The occupation must be related to your studies and it should not be less than AED 1,500 per month.
