90 Day Visa For Thailand From Uk
Visas shouldn’t be stressful. They should be easy and painless, right? In the case of this post I hope to alleviate some of that stress by covering off on one of the more complicated visas in Thailand. The Non-Immigrant O visa is a type of visa which lasts 90 days per each entry. It’s a complicated visa which you can’t just rock up to the airport, hand over your passport and a form and walk straight through immigration. Sure you can do it, but you’ll be in for an unpleasant day at the airport after being turned around at immigration and sent packing. The Thai Visa runs for 3 or 6 months and needs to be entered into Thailand before the expiration date, otherwise you will be fined or face criminal charges. In order to obtain a new visa you will need to leave the country (except to re-enter), you will then have a new 90 days starting from your re-entry date.

Thailand Special Tourist Visa Qualifications
Foreigners applying for a Special Tourist Visa must be:
- Foreigner from a low-risk country according to the Public Health Ministry regulations.
- Accept compliance of preventive measures as prescribed by the government,
- including submitting to alternative state quarantine (ASQ) in accredited hospitals/hotels for not less than 14 days upon arrival.
- Provide evidence of a place to stay or accommodation during the long stay visit.
- Show proof of payment for hotel accommodation or admittance to hospitals chosen as alternative state quarantine (ASQ) facilities.
At this stage, the definition of ‘low risk’ country remains open for interpretation and will change over time. It is highly recommended for those who are wishing to apply for the STV they must enquire at the Royal Thai Embassy or a consulate in their home country before making any bookings or paying money for agents or other services.
Requirements for Thailand STV
Foreigners applying for the STV will need to provide the following:
- Proof of accommodation after the 14-day quarantine, which could be any of the following:
- Proof of payment for hotel or accommodation to be used after discharge from quarantine.
- Copy of a condominium title deed owned by the visitor or a family member.
- Evidence of renting accommodation – condominium or house.
- Evidence of payment for the purchase or lease of a condominium-type residence that foreigners can legally buy or lease.
- Proof of medical and travel insurance policy
Medical and Travel Insurance with a minimum 100,000 USD coverage for COVID-19 medical treatment and a minimum coverage of 400,000 THB for other medical and accident expenses. The insurance must cover for at least 90 days which is the initial validity of the visa.
If you’re fully vaccinated
Travel by air
From 1 May, if you’re fully vaccinated, you can apply to enter Thailand via the Thailand Pass and do not need to quarantine. RT-PCR tests before and upon arrival are not required. You must have been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days before your date of travel and the vaccines must be approved by Ministry of Public Health.
Travel via land border
If you enter Thailand through land border, you will also need to apply on Thailand Pass website.
Proof of vaccination status
All persons aged 18 or over must have a vaccination certificate.
Thailand will accept the UK’s proof of COVID-19 recovery and vaccination record. A digital certificate or a screenshot of evidence of your COVID-19 vaccination status should be accepted. Your final vaccine dose must have been administered at least 14 days prior to travel. Your NHS appointment card from vaccination centres is not designed to be used as proof of vaccination and should not be used to demonstrate your vaccine status.
If you’re not fully vaccinated
If you’re not fully vaccinated, you can apply to enter Thailand via the Thailand Pass. You will be required to have a negative result from a COVID-19 RT-PCR test or a professional ATK test, issued no more than 72 hours before departure.

If you’ve had COVID-19 in the past year
If you’re not fully vaccinated but have recovered from COVID-19 and have received at least 1 dose of approved vaccine, you will need to show a medical certificate of recovery in order to enter Thailand.
Residents of Thailand
If you have a Thai resident visa and usually live in Thailand but you cannot return within the required year, the Thailand authorities will grant you an extension to your compulsory return deadline. You must return to Thailand as soon as you can.
