Do Croatian passport holders need a visa for Australia?

Yes, Croatian passport holders need a valid visa to travel to Australia, the same as most other European citizens. Croatian citizens are eligible to apply online for the eVisitor visa subclass 651.

The eVisitor allows short travel to Australia for either business or tourism. The visa is granted for one year and it allows multiple entries, for a maximum of 90 days for each stay. Entry to the country is allowed via sea or air.

When travelling to Australia with an eVisitor, paid work is not allowed. It is, however, possible to engage in other business-related activities such as general business inquiries, negotiating or reviewing a business contract, or attending seminars or conferences, as long as attendance is not paid. Travellers can also conduct unpaid volunteer work or studies as long as these don’t constitute the main purpose of their trip.

The eVisitor is valid from the date it is granted and it expires after one year or when the passport expires, whichever comes first. The visa will be digitally linked to the passport so travellers will not get a stamp in their passport.

It is important to note that citizens who have more than one passport should travel on the same one they used to fill out the application.

What documents do Croatian citizens need for an Australian visa?

To obtain their Australian visa from Croatia, travellers will need to have a passport valid for at least three months from the date of arrival in Australia and a credit or debit card to complete the online payment.

At the moment of the application, they will need to provide the following credit/debit card details: type of card, cardholder name, card number, expiration date, CVV security code.

In addition to this, there are specific visa requirements that have to be met when applying for an Australian eVisitor:

  • Travellers must be outside Australia when applying for a visa and before receiving it
  • Specific health requirements must be met: travellers should be free from any disease or condition that could lead to significant healthcare and community service cost to the Australian community or likely limit access to Australian citizens and permanent residents to healthcare and community services
  • Travellers must ensure they (or any family members) don’t have any debts to the Australian Government
  • Travellers must have enough money to support themselves while in Australia and to leave the country at the end of their stay

  • Having health insurance is recommended to cover any unforeseen medical treatment while in Australia
