Having visa is a must if a person wishes to travel outside the United States of America. The cost of visa is different from one country to another, these are available as per the rules and regulation of concerned government office. The cost and processing time of a visa differs based on the country of origin and the embassy you will be visiting. For example, India visa processing times are synced with those of the United States; therefore, most travelers receive their visas within a week. Additionally, Indian embassies do not accept credit cards (U.S. dollar, Euro), and cash is the primary means of payment. Cost Of Visa In India

Every year, we welcome thousands of foreign nationals to visit India. These visitors are either tourists or for employment purpose for a specific period. A travel visa is required before entering the country. This is issued by the Indian Embassy / Consulate in the country of residence and it might differ based on the purpose of visit and person’s nationality.

Visa Services / Fees

The current visa fee structure has multiple categories and a need was felt to rationalize the same. To simplify and streamline the fee structure, visa fees for Nigerian nationals has, therefore, been revised with effect from April 15, 2015. Under the new fee structure, all categories of visas would be charged at an uniform rate of US Dollar 250.00 (Two Hundred and Fifty only), plus surcharge of Naira 1062.00 (Naira One hundred and sixty two only). This is in keeping with the practice of uniform visa fee being charged by the Nigerian High Commission in India. All the documentary requirements would continue as per existing practice.

Please note that Visa fee from the applicants will be accepted at the Sterling Bank Plc extension counter in the premises of The High Commission of India, Abuja and Lagos ONLY

Visa Services:

Please do not finalise your travel arrangements to India before ascertaining the visa requirements. All foreign nationals, including children, require a visa to enter India.

Visa fees are non-refundable and subject to change. The High Commission reserves the right of deciding the duration of visa irrespective of the fees tendered at the time of making application.

Visas can be applied for in person at the High Commission of India in Lagos. Visa applicants from foreign nationals other than Nigerians or from people of Pakistani, Bangladesh and Sri Lankan origin may have to wait for requisite visa clearance from the Indian Missions in their respective countries. Pakistani and Bangladesh nationals have to apply in special visa application forms.

Visitors to restricted/protected areas need special permits and for this purpose an additional form has to be completed. Please contact the High Commission of India, Abuja / Lagos if you wish to ascertain whether any of the places you intend to visit fall in the category of restricted/protected areas.

Specific visas are granted for a variety of purposes. The principal types of visas issued are mentioned below. Please contact the High Commission of India for further details if you are visiting India for purposes other than tourism, such as journalism, conferences, yoga, voluntary work, mountaineering or other expeditions. The visa application form is, however, the same. Separate forms are available for Pakistani and Bangladeshi Nationals.

Note: Persons holding long term visas (having validity exceeding 6 months) are normally expected to stay in India for a maximum of 6 months during each visit. Please refer to the boxed note further down for requirement to register with the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO)/Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).

Persons of Indian origin holding multiple entry X-visas, visiting India to meet relatives or for social purposes, are required to register with the FRO/FRRO within 14 days of first arrival only if they intend to stay continuously for more than 6 months. This registration is required during the first visit after the visa is issued. Subsequent travels using the same visa do not require registration. Children below the age of 16 years are exempt from this requirement. All other visitors to India, including those of Indian origin, holding any other category of visa valid for more than 6 months should register with the FRO/FRRO within 14 days of arrival in India.
