Do British Need Visa For Azerbaijan

All travellers

All travellers should familiarise themselves with the entry rules for Azerbaijan before travel.

If you’re fully vaccinated

If you’re fully vaccinated, you can enter Azerbaijan without needing to test or quarantine.

At least 14 days must have passed since your second dose of the vaccine.

Proof of vaccination status

You must present proof that you have been fully vaccinated to enter Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan will accept the UK’s proof of COVID-19 recovery and vaccination record. Your NHS appointment card from vaccination centres is not designed to be used as proof of vaccination and should not be used to demonstrate your vaccine status.

If you’re not fully vaccinated

If you’re not fully vaccinated, you’ll need to show proof of immunity to COVID-19 in order to enter Azerbaijan (see below).

If you’ve had COVID-19 in the past year

If you’re not fully vaccinated, but have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last six months, you can enter Azerbaijan. You’ll need to show evidence of a positive PCR test (taken more than 14 days and less than six months ago). You will not need to take an additional COVID-19 test.

You can use the UK COVID Pass to demonstrate proof of COVID-19 recovery when entering Azerbaijan.

Children and young people

Children aged 17 do not need to show proof of vaccination to enter Azerbaijan.

Passport validity

If you are visiting Azerbaijan, your passport should be valid for a minimum of 3 months from the date your visa expires.

If you are a resident in Azerbaijan, your passport must be valid for a minimum of 3 months from the expiry date of your temporary or permanent residence permit.

Visas

British nationals travelling to Azerbaijan need to get a visa in advance. The ASAN Visa (e-Visa) service is now open to all British nationals. E-Visas normally take 72 hours to process. Azerbaijan Visa On Arrival


There are a few country citizens can get their Azerbaijan visa on arrival. Apart from getting an electronic visa, this option makes it possible to obtain a visa within a short span of time. The benefit of getting Azerbaijan visa on arrival is, visitors can get their visa at any airport. Nevertheless, a limited number of country nationalities are allowed to take this action.


The validity of the visa on arrival is thirty days and a single entry allowed for most of the countries. There are fourteen countries eligible to get the visa this way. These countries are China, Bahrain, Macau, Indonesia, Israel, Kuwait, Japan, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Singapore, Turkey, and the UAE.


There are three country citizens can get their visa in special conditions. These countries are mentioned down below. 

  • Turkey. Turkey citizens may apply for a visa on arrival and stay in Azerbaijan sixty days at maximum.
  • Iran. Iranian citizens can get their visa on arrival for fifteen days. 
  • The USA. The US citizens may obtain their visa on arrival for thirty days. Nevertheless, their flight must be directly from Azerbaijan Airlines from New York City.
