Thus she has up to 6 months of leave, during which she can have 2 renewals (each lasting another 6 months) and remain in the country legally. This leaves a total of 3 months where she has no legal status and could have problems entering or exiting the country.

The housemaid’s visa renewal process can take anywhere from two weeks to eight months. Before I explain how the housemaid visa renewal process works, I want to explain why your sponsor might have a lot of power when it comes to the renewal time.

Visa renewal of Housemaid Sponsored by an Expatriate

+ Sponsor should visit GRRFA Office to get visa stamped on maid’s passport after submitting the application through Tadbeer Center. This rule is same for expatriate and national sponsor. No Zajel collection is available for maid visa stamping and renewal.

+ Application can be typed from Tadbeer centre.

+ Maid’s original passport & Emirates ID

+ Three photographs of the Maid with white background (2 photos for medical & one for visa)

+ Original Passport, Emirates ID, Bank Account Number (IBAN), Tenancy Contract (Ejari) with minimum two bed rooms, Electricity Bill & Labour Contract/ Salary Certificate of Sponsor.

Medical Insurance should be renewed yearly. Approximate Dh589 per year.

Maid Contract to be signed by both employer and the maid. Then it should be scanned with visa application. Maid contract can be printed from Tas’heel Centre. Fee: Dh103. You can take the maid to Tadbeer centre for signing the contract to avoid visiting the centre two times.

Age Criteria: If the maid’s age is above 60, a manual application should be filled in Arabic by the sponsor and attach it with the online application to exempt from the age limit.

Grace Period: Visa and Emirates ID should be renewed within 30 days from the date of expiry. If late, Dh25 fine per day for visa and Dh20 for ID should be paid at typing centre.

Investor/Partner:
 If the sponsor is an Investor/Partner, Court Agreement showing his shareholding, Copy of Trade License and Partners List.

Deposit Refund:Dh2000 which had deposited at the time of initial approval can be refunded after paying new deposit.
How?: Got to Immigration Head Office, Jafliya (Refund Counter) with original old deposit receipt, new deposit receipt, your passport, Emirates ID and Maid’s original passport.
+ Get no objection for refund seal from the counter on deposit receipt and go to Dubai Commercial Bank (next to Immigration building) and collect the cash. Bank will charge Dh40 as commission.

If you lost original deposit receipt, pay Dh70 atImmigration counter to get a receipt in lieu of lost.

+ If the sponsor is an Investor/Partner: Court Agreement showing his shareholding, Copy of Trade License and Partners List.  

Grace Period: There are 30 days grace period from the date of Visa expiry. If late, Dh25 fine per day for Visa and Dh20 for ID should be paid at typing centre.
