Required Documents for a Cyprus Visa

The required documents for a Cyprus visa are:

  • A valid passport.
  • Cyprus Visa Application Form.
  • Visa photos in line with Cyprus visa requirements.
  • Proof of legal residence.
  • Flight tickets/itinerary.
  • Proof of sufficient funds.
  • Proof of accommodation in Cyprus.
  • Employment status documents.
  • Travel health insurance.
  • Cover letter (if required).
  • Proof of paid Cyprus visa fee.
  • Self-addressed, pre-paid envelope (if applying by post).
  • Additional documents depending on the purpose of travel.

Valid passport

You must have a valid passport or another travel document which has been issued in the past ten years. The passport must be valid for at least three more months starting from the time you intend to leave Cyprus.

It must also have at least two blank pages so the visa can be affixed.

Along with the original passport, also submit photocopies of all the used pages on your passport, including all previous visas, personal information and issuance/expiry date.

Cyprus visa photo requirements

Along with your Cyprus visa application, you must submit two passport-sized pictures with the following requirements:

  • Dimensions: 40mm x 50mm.
  • Your face must take up 70% – 80% of the picture.
  • Taken in front of a white background without any patterns.
  • The picture must be high quality, with good lighting. That means no over or under-exposure, no shadows, no red-eye or glare.
  • The picture must be recent: No older than six months.
  • You must have a neutral facial expression, mouth closed and staring straight ahead.
  • You are not allowed to wear any headgear, unless it is for religious purposes. Even so, it cannot obstruct your face in any capacity.
  • Glasses are generally not allowed. However, if you need to wear them you must make sure they do not obstruct your eyes and face, and that there is no glare. Sunglasses or any other tinted glasses strictly not allowed.
  • One of the pictures must be notarized by a Notary Public on the back.

If you are submitting a picture for a baby or infant who is unable to support themselves, take a picture of them lying down, from above. Your hands supporting them cannot be in the picture.

Proof of legal residence

If you are not a citizen of the country from which you are applying, you must include proof of legal residence, such as a photocopy of your residence permit/visa etc. They must be valid for at least another three months from the time you intend to leave Cyprus.

Flight tickets/itinerary

You must submit proof of booked flight tickets – you do not have to pay for the tickets beforehand. You can wait to pay until after your visa is approved.

The tickets must be round trip and show fixed dates of entry and departure from Cyprus.

Proof of sufficient funds

You must prove you have sufficient funds to cover the entire duration of your stay. Depending on the country you’re applying from, you may submit:

  • Bank statements from the past three months which are stamped by the bank.
  • Traveler’s cheques
  • Saving books

You cannot show proof of financial solvency by presenting cash.

Proof of accommodation in Cyprus

You must show that you have accommodation in Cyprus, such as a hotel reservation, letter from a host, or other forms of tourist accommodation.

Employment status documents

Depending on the status of your employment, you have to submit one of the following:

  • If you are employed: No Objection Letter from your employer, stating your position, salary, and the dates you will be absent from work. The letter has to be recent and addressed to the embassy or consulate.
  • If you are self-employed: A letter from your accountant, solicitor, or bank manager or a letter from the company and a copy of the trade license.
  • If you are a student: A letter from your school/university, confirming your enrollment and the duration of your course/s.

Travel health insurance

You must purchase travel health insurance before travelling to Cyprus, which covers at least €30,000 of medical emergencies and repatriation for the entire duration of your stay.

If you have a current health insurance plan in your country which covers medical emergencies abroad, then you must submit proof of that.
